You need to bring...
  • Water Bottles:  There are large containers used to store well water ready for drinking.  These are refilled daily.   If you decide to purchase mineral water it is most economic to buy 5 litre bottles.  Either way you will need to bring personal water bottles so that you can carry water with you at all times.  (See our notes in Sustainable Tourism)
  • Clothes:  Please respect our traditions and culture by dressing approppriately.  Ladies, we request that you don't wear shorts, mini skirts or low cut shirts.  Gentlemen, please could your shorts be at least knee length.  Tops should be worn by all at all times.  Thank you.
  • Waterproofs: We are fortunate to have been getting more rain recently.  However, the rain is not regular and can be heavy with no warning.  We would recommend that if you are going on a camel trek to bring some lightweight waterproofs that fit easily into your bag (you may never use them!).  Wet clothes can quickly become very cold making the experience unpleasant.
  • Overnight Bag for camel treks:  Perhaps to include some toilettries, first aid, waterproofs, a change of clothes and water bottle.
  • A turban/head scarf is highly recommended to keep the sand and dust out of your eyes.
  • Flip-flops are also needed; you should not walk any wear in bare feet. Flip-flops are easy to take off and on.  It is our tradition to leave footwear at the door, so easy on and off is useful.
  • Bedding:  Blankets and cushions are provided.  Please bring any other bedding you require.  We recommend you bring a sleeping bag in the colder winter months.
  • Some people like to bring a small tent for longer camel treks, especially in the winter months on the nights when you will be sleeping under the stars.
  • Towels & Toiletries:  All water is collected from the local well.  Your choice of toiletries should reflect an adequate but limited amount of water for washing.   We recommend you bring some anti-bacterial hand gel which is useful for situations when there is no immediate water for hand washing (on camel treks).
  • First Aid Kit:  In additional to the usual kit, re-hydrations tablets (or sachets) are highly recommended for emmergencies in the hotter summers months. Also, some standard stomach medicine.  When travelling to other countries some guests do experience minor tummy upsets due to change in food, water and climate.
  • Torch:  Useful in many night time situations
  • Travel Insurance:  You are in a very remote location so comprehensive travel insurance is essential.
