The Fayou Family

Welcome to our large and happy family.

The Fayou Family has 10 original members.  The youngest of our family are Aicha (7), Fatima (10) and Said (12).  They help our family by making toys and crafts to sell to tourists.  A small school has recently been opened in the village, so now they spend their mornings studying.

Next is Zahara (16) and Khadija (18) who really help out around the house.  They are responsible for the laundry, cooking, cleaning and collecting water.  They are certainly worth their weight in gold!

Mohammed (22) will be your guide, he is responsible for the families 3 camels and leads guests through the spectacular local landscape.  He is closely helped by Youssef, a close friend of the family.

Erkia (23) lives in the nearby village of Hasi L'bid with her husband Lahssan, their children Ismail (3), Zahra (1) and her 4 step children Erkia, Ahmed, Ali and Abraham.

The eldest son Youssef married Loretta in 2007. They now live in England where they look after the website and organise reservations for the family.  They have recently had their first child, Leila, further increasing the size of the Fayou Family!

Bedda will look after most of your domestic needs and runs the home.  L'ho looks after the tent in the Erg Chebi and farms locally to provide the family with wheat for their freshly cooked bread and to provide an extra income for the family.  He advises Mohammed on the best routes to take our guests.

In addition to the people in our family we also have 3 camels, a donkey (Arthur) and some sheep.

We built our modest home ourselves and add rooms as necessary.  What started as a one room home now has 7 rooms and a toilet and washroom.  We have one large and one small guest room both with a warm ambiance and decorated with homemade traditional berber crafts.  The money raised through this enterprise means that we can slowly add more rooms to our home, we now have a communal lounge area for our guests.  Our standard of living is definately improving thanks to the guests who visit us.

We look forward to meeting you.
